Indo-Danish Workshop on Agro-Forestry & Hydroponics Organized by Amity School of Earth and Environmental Sciences

Amity School of Earth and Environmental Sciences in collaboration with University of Copenhagen, Denmark organized an Indo-Danish workshop on “Agro-Forestry and Hydroponics” on 7th of November 2022. Dr Bhim Bahadur Ghaley, Associate Professor, Department of Plant & Environment Science, University of Copenhagen emceed the session as the expert guest speaker alongside Dr. Deepika Pandey, Assistant Professor and Dr. Aakriti Verma, Teaching associate of Amity University Haryana functioning as the programme coordinators.        

The event was divided into two sessions: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (morning session) and 2:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. (afternoon session)   The workshop's central emphasis was on agroforestry and hydroponics. During the morning session, the professor highlighted agroforestry and its applicability, as well as practical tactics for effective delivery.The final session proceeded with an orientation to "Hydroponics and Aeroponics" as an agricultural radical transformation. The lecturer gave a brief description of the hydroponics systems that are being used for research at their university. Growing microgreens and their usefulness as smart agriculture techniques were highlighted in particular. Throughout the event, the interaction between the speaker and the attendees was dynamic and informative.

The intention of the workshop was to foster dialogue and future collaboration. Students examined various strategies that may result in improved commercialized agriculture operations. Students were encouraged to debate potential ways for improving farming operations by the notion of sustainability in agriculture. 

The event was a great success, with many students expressing their opinions and interacting while grasping the issue and broadening their perspectives in recognizing the relevance and necessity of sustainable agriculture for future generations. Furthermore, sustainable agriculture was examined, with an emphasis on resource conservation and food security. Students were encouraged to debate various strategies that may lead to better agricultural practises by the notion of sustainability.
